It’s nearly the end of the school year. This has always been a time for me that is for both looking back at the current year and looking forward to the next. As I reflect and plan, I find it helpful to think of my practice like I think about my house.
At any time, I have hopes for what might be, as well as some aspects of my house that I love, some I would change if I could, and some I really don’t like at all (beige tile in the kitchen, really???).
The same can be said for my practice as an instructional coach and educator. I’ll be thinking of my house as I reflect on my practice this year. I’ll be thinking about my hopes and dreams, what I need to Polish, what I need to Renovate, what I need to Demolish. (If you would like a tool to support building your dream house, there is graphic organizer in the brand new “Help Yourself!” section of yourinstructionalcoach.com. Click on the orange/red hexagon at the top of the page for details).
Of course, identifying these areas is only the first step. I’ll need to research, find supports, and collaboratively plan next steps, but today I’ll take the first step towards my dream house!
